Mentor Support

How we can support you

Funding for All provides free, expert advice to small charities, voluntary organisations, community groups and social enterprises from across Kent and Medway.

Since opening in 2012, we have supported nearly 700 Kent and Medway voluntary sector organisations by developing their skills in:

  • writing bid/grant applications;
  • income generation;
  • fundraising – individual, trusts and foundations, digital, corporate;
  • claiming Gift Aid;
  • impact measurement;
  • fundraising strategy;
  • marketing and communications; and
  • legacy programmes.

Our objective is to inspire and empower community organisations to build their fundraising capacity and ensure sustainability. At the heart of everything we do, our core promise is:

“We offer the skills and advice to help your organisation raise the funds it needs.”

To date, the charities, voluntary organisations, community groups and social enterprises we have worked with have successfully secured over £7 million in funding!

How it works

Whether you are a new organisation taking your first steps into fundraising or need to take your organisation to the next level, we can guide you.

Our mentors are experienced industry experts who cover a vast range of specialisms, from arts and heritage to youth and older people. They have a wealth of knowledge and the right connections to help you on your fundraising journey.

Once your organisation has been matched with a mentor, they will work directly with you to achieve your objective. This could be help identifying potential funders, reviewing grant applications, or developing a fundraising strategy. Each group will be allocated a set amount of hours with their assigned mentor to achieve the agreed objective.

Currently, all our support is taking place virtually or over the phone until we can safely resume meeting in-person.

The advice we offer is no-nonsense and practical. Absolutely no previous fundraising experience is required in order to receive our support, however we do ask that your organisation is formally constituted and:

  • is either:
    • a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO)
    • a Charity Limited by Guarantee
    • a Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC)
    • a Community Interest Company (CIC)
    • a Parent Teacher Association (PTA/PTFA)
    • a Parish or Town Council
    • a Social Enterprise
    • an Unincorporated (governing document in place) Community Group or Voluntary Organisation

(Those yet to formally set-up, private companies, individuals, local authorities and unconstituted voluntary organisations or community groups are not eligible for our support – see our Useful Links to find support and advice on choosing an organisational structure and how to become constituted)

  • has an annual income under £500,000; and
  • is registered in, and benefitting, the UK county of Kent, including Medway.

Who we’ve helped

Cherished Gowns UK

Funding for all are an amazing charity that help support small charities and organisations with bid writing. We currently have the honour of working with one of their mentors and she is an incredible woman. I have never met anyone that is more knowledgeable than Kerry about bid writing and fundraising and to be entirely honest I doubt there is anyone! We can’t thank you enough for all of your help and support.

CEO & Founder

A Kent Voluntary Organisation

I don’t think we would have been successful in obtaining funding without the help of Funding for All. We now have an up and running baby and toddler group with over 50 names on our books. We are meeting the need of something that was desperately needed in our community.
