The Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport’s Culture Recovery Fund for Heritage, distributed by the National Lottery Heritage Fund in partnership with Historic England, awards grants of between £10,000 to £3 million to organisations from across England’s heritage ecosystem. Grants are to safeguard these organisations’ future from the economic impact of Covid-19.
Applicants must have been financially sustainable before the pandemic, have exhausted all other financing options, and are now at risk of failure.
The Fund will support organisations to ensure that by 31 March 2021, successful applicants can reopen or, if reopening under social distancing is not permissible or does not represent a value for money approach, to operate on a sustainable and cost-efficient basis so that they are able to reopen at a later date.
Applicants can apply for the costs they need to help their organisation recover from the economic impact of Covid-19 and to make sure that they are financially viable in the future. They will need to consider the most effective route to future sustainability for their organisation, and the public benefit, including economic benefit, to the wider heritage ecosystem. This may include a combination of re-opening, partial re-opening and mothballing.
The costs included in the application should cover the period from 1 October 2020 to 31 March 2021 only and can be used to help with:
- adaptation and recovery;
- reopening; or
- temporarily scaling-back.
Applicants that can demonstrate either a high heritage significance or a high economic and cultural impact in your place will be prioritised.
Deadline: Monday 17 August 2020
