The Learning Journey Fund managed by Kent Community Foundation through their Martello Fund awards grants of up to £1,500 to support individuals, staff members or volunteers, from charities based in Kent to discover new insights and inspiration. The scheme will fund up to ten individuals to visit and learn from national and international best practice, to plan their own next steps and to share learning across the region.
This could be visiting a charity that is an exemplar for local engagement, environmental sustainability, or work with refugees. It could learning from a care home that is pioneering client-led services, a museum that is bringing their collection to life, a resident’s group that runs an amazing community garden, or a sports club that is truly inclusive.
Following your visit or visits, the Fund will pay to help you think through your learning, and to bring in a coach, advisor, consultant, or facilitator to help you develop your plans and your next steps. The Foundation can support you around this planning this, for example links, tips and recommendations.
Success applicants will then share their learning through a blog or presentation that will be posted on the Kent Community Foundation website. The aim is to also bring the grantees together to learn and share with one another.
The fund, up to £1,500, will be divided into three types of expenditure:
- Visit: up to £500 to fund your visit/s (for example travel, accommodation, food)
- Plan: up to £500 to fund working with an advisor to think through your next steps (this can include fees, venue hire, away day expenses)
- Support: up to £500 for your time as part of the visit, thinking and project planning as well as sharing your learning.
